Scuffed Shoes Bulletin article for February 2012

    This month we have two sweet dances for your pleasure.  We begin with a Valentine's Day dance on the 3rd.  That evening we will have Roy Stevenson here to call squares for us.  He will be joined at the mike by Justin Judd del Sol cueing rounds for us.  So, bring your sweetheart and come join us on the dance floor.  Later this month we will have our Beginner's Hoedown on the 17th.  That night we will have our own member and the instructor for the class, Bob Gaunt here calling squares.
   
    We will also have Leroy Shade here to cue rounds for us.  This will be a good opportunity to bring your new dancers and come join us on the dance floor.  It is a good opportunity for the rest of us to get to know them and let them know square dancing is really a fun activity.

    Next month is going to be busy for us as we have three dances, one of them a benefit dance for Laradon Hall.  We begin the month with a dance on the 2nd.  We will have all the way from Nebraska, Lanny Weakland!
 
    This will be a Purple Passion dance. We would love to have you join us whether you are passionate about purple or not.  We are passionate about fun dancing so think this will be an evening of fun.  We will welcome back Justin Judd del Sol to cue rounds for us.  Then on the 16th of the month change your purple for green as we are having our St.
 
    Patrick's Day dance.  We will have another fun team here that night also.  Bear Miller will be here calling squares and he will be joined by Ed Glenn who will cue rounds for us.  I don't know if they are Irish or not, but that night we will all be Irish, and will all have lots of fun dancing.

    On March 30th, we will host our benefit dance for Laradon Hall. 
Laradon Hall provides services for children and adults that have developmental disabilities.  All the proceeds from the dance will go to Laradon Hall.  We will also have a silent auction to help raise even more money for them.  The callers and cuers will be from the Denver area, and will be announced at a later date.  Please help us support this worthy cause.

    MARCH IS SUPPOSED TO COME IN LIKE A LION AND GO OUT LIKE A LAMB, AND WE HOPE IT DOES.  THE DAYS ARE GETTING LONGER AND THE TEMPERATURES WARMER WHICH MUST MEAN SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!  WE HOPE YOU ARE GETTING IN PLENTY OF DANCING.  THIS MONTH WE WILL BE HOSTING THREE DANCES.  WE BEGIN THE MONTH WITH A PURPLE PASSION DANCE ON THE 2ND.  WE WILL HAVE THE TEAM OF LANNY WEAKLAND AND JUSTIN JUDD DEL SOL HERE FOR THE EVENING.  I AM NOT SURE IF YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT PURPLE OR NOT, BUT I DO KNOW WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN DANCING.  WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU COME JOIN US FOR A FUN FILLED EVENING.  LATER THIS MONTH WE WILL HOST OUR ST. PATRICK’S DAY DANCE ON THE 16TH.  THAT NIGHT WE WILL BE WEARING OUR FAVORITE GREEN OUTFITS TO HELP CELEBRATE THE IRISH IN ALL OF US.  THAT NIGHT WE WILL HAVE THE GREAT TEAM OF BEAR MILLER AND ED GLENN HERE FOR YOUR DANCING PLEASURE.
WE WRAP UP THE MONTH WITH OUR BENEFIT DANCE FOR LARADON HALL ON THE 30TH.  MANY YEARS AGO A FAMILY HERE IN DENVER HAD TWO SONS THAT HAD DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.  AT THAT TIME THERE WERE NO SCHOOLS TO SEND THEM TO.  THEY BEGAN A SCHOOL NAMING IT AFTER THEIR TWO SONS BY COMBINING THEIR NAMES, LARRY AND DON.  THEY FOUNDED LARADON HALL.  TODAY IT HAS EVOLVED INTO A WONDERFUL SCHOOL THAT PROVIDES SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS THAT HAVE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.  THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE THREE CALLERS AND THREE CUERS FROM THE DENVER AREA.  WE WILL HAVE BOB GAUNT, DON ROUZE AND MIKE DARRAH HERE CALLING SQUARES.  THEY WILL BE JOINED BY SONNY RISLEY, JEFF COX AND DAVE SMITH CUEING ROUNDS.  TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED BEFORE THE DANCE FROM A CLUB MEMBER OR AT THE DOOR.  WE WILL HAVE DOOR PRIZES AND A SILENT AUCTION.  ALL THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO LARADON HALL.
WE WILL HAVE PRE-ROUNDS AT 7:30, FOLLOWED BY SQUARES AT 8:00.  WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO COME OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN WITH US, AND ALSO RAISE MONEY FOR THIS WORTHY CAUSE.
THE SCUFFED SHOES WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR 48TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A DANCE NEXT MONTH ON APRIL 20TH.  ONCE AGAIN WE WILL HAVE THE TEAM OF DAVE GUILLE AND LEROY SHADE. THESE GENTLEMEN HAVE CALLED AND CUED THIS DANCE THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, AND WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A WONDERFUL TIME.  WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO JOIN US FOR A GREAT NIGHT OF DANCING.
